I am a nurse and an artist. A large part of my career as a nurse has been spent caring for people touched by homelessness.  Many of the portraits I paint are of the special people I have helped take care of as a nurse.I see a hero in each of them They are kind, brave, generous and spread joy no matter what hard times they endure.Each person has inspired me so much that instead of selling their paintings for money, I “sell” the portraits in exchange for gifts of kindness to help others - a donation of food to a neighborhood food bank, a gift of new socks for a medical clinic or even homemade sandwiches for a community shelter. ~Mary
