MARY LARSON ART

"All Aboard", 40"x60", Acrylic on board, 2026. A favorite artist of mine is Ralph Fasanella, a self-taught painter who pumped gas at a service station in the Bronx when he wasn't painting. His 1950 painting, "Subway Riders", is a piece I love. It tells the story of his NYC subway rides to and from work. Inspired by Ralph, I've tried to depict my own commutes on the Seattle Lite Rail. Most people don't ever look at each other. Sometimes they shove each other around trying to get in and out of the train. Sometimes there are loud talkers who can be heard 10 seats away - especially tough to listen to early in the morning. Here I've filled my Lite Rail car with characters who aren't afraid to look you in the eye and smile - and nobody who'd push you around.    Now showing at Seattle’s Sand Point Grill!
